Steroid acne

Steroid acne can result from taking either steroid pills or from applying corticosteroid creams to the skin. Acne resulting from steroid pills will appear rapidly whereas acne from steroid creams may take weeks to develop. Bodybuilders who experience severe steroid acne caused by Anadrol can get this problem under control by using the prescription drug Accutane.

Steroid acne most often affects adolescent or adult patients who have been taking moderate or high doses of oral steroids such as prednisone for several weeks.

Treatment of Steroid acne

Steroid acne may clear despite continuing the steroid medication. It usually however persists until the steroid medication is discontinued.
