Healthy Vegetable Dip Recipes
These vegetable dip recipes are real crowd pleasers. They taste so good nobody will know they are not full of fat and calories.
Most vegetable dip recipes are made with a base of mayonaise and sour cream. This is where thousands of calories and hundreds of fat grams come from. The secret is to use non fat mayonaise and non fat sour cream.
Once you add plenty of ingredients, spices and flavorings you won't miss all the fat. If you want you can start out with low fat and work you way up to non fat.
The idea is to eat more vegetables because they are full of fiber and vitamins and are so good for you.

Tip: Before serving the vegetables, cut them up and put them in ice water for an hour to make them cool and crisp.
Famous French Onion Dip
One of the easiest vegetable dip recipes but also one that everybody likes. Simply mix two pints of nonfat sour cream with two envelopes of dry French onion soup mix. Lipton makes a good one. Chill this for two hours in the refrigerator. Serve with carrot sticks, celery and other assorted veggies.
Creamy Spinach Dip
An uncomplicated version of one of the old standby vegetable dip recipes. Thaw 8 ounces of frozen chopped spinach leaves and mix with 1/2 cup chopped onion, 1 cup of nonfat sour cream, 2 cups of nonfat mayonaise and a dash of lemon juice. Blend well and let sit in refrigerator overnight.
Chill With Dill Dip
Mix 1 cup of sour cream with 1 cup of mayonaise. Add a quarter cup of chopped green onion, 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley and 1-1/2 tablespoons of dill weed, or more to your taste. Chill for two hours.
Blended Spicy Dip
In a blender combine 1 pint nonfat cottage cheese, 1 cup nonfat mayonaise, 1/2 half cup onion, 1 clove of garlic, 1 tablespoon of worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon celery seed, 1 teaspoon caraway seed, 1 tablespoon Good Seasons Italian dry salad dressing mix. Blend until smooth and chill for two hours.
